"Through the film and photography project, Future Voices New Mexico, middle and high schools students from schools statewide learn how to direct, shoot, and edit short films, or learn photopgraphic skills. Every April, the theater fills with 600 excited students from the participating schools for the annual awards ceremony. First, second, and third place films and photos in each category are screened for the audience. The category winners are then presented with cash rewards to the wild applause of their classmates. Future Voices of New Mexico is a partnership involving the Lensic, National Geographic All Roads Film Project, and Santa Fe Photographic Workshops." 10am, Thursday, May 4, 2016 - Winning film makers and photographers ages 13-18 will be present for this screening of winning 3 minute films and photos. The New Mexico State Film Office is hosting its 3rd annual Film & Media Education Summit on April 9th, 2016, from 8:00am to 5:00pm at CNM Applied Technology Center in Albuquerque. Cabinet Secretary of New Mexico Higher Education Dr. Barbara Dannon will kick off the event as the keynote speaker. The mission of this event is to stimulate communication, create fresh ideas and establish lasting bonds and relationships between New Mexico’s film and media industry and secondary and higher education institutions and students!
